Casetta Termine is set on a hilltop in the heart of the wild Maremma region, midway between the coastal nature preserve of the Monti dell’Uccellina and southern Tuscany’s highest point, Monte Amiata. A small but very pretty stone farmhouse, fully air-conditioned [under floor colling system] it boasts wonderfully cosy interiors with high beamed ceilings, old terracotta floors and hand-painted wall finishes. The newly-installed kitchen and bathrooms have been designed to blend in with the house’s traditional feel. Two terraces offer a choice of dining areas to suit the time of day, and a path leads up through the walled garden to a swimming pool edged with natural rock. Although well off the beaten track with lovely, sweeping views, the house is only minutes away from two quite spectacular hilltop villages, Scansano and Magliano-in-Toscana, and surrounded by several up-and-coming wine-producing estates.
