Geggianello is a stunning private home, perched on a hill top above immaculate vineyards enjoying sweeping views of the countryside and of the nearby city of Siena. This is a very sophisticated home made up of three beautiful stone buildings creating a very unique design, all maintained to a very high level in one of the most sought after destinations in Tuscany. A short and well kept white road with a line of cypress trees on each side winds its self up through the estates grounds to the old stone farmhouse. Gates lead into the beautiful courtyard with lawns surrounded on three sides by the old stone farmhouse overlooking one of the estates vineyards, with the silhouette of Siena against the skyline. Leave the courtyard by another set of gates and you find yourself in another garden with a large loggia with a dining area and a seating area ideal for the long warm summer days. Stone steps lead you down to the private infinity-edge swimming pool furnished with umbrellas and loungers, strategically placed to enjoy the best of the views of the surrounding countryside. The interior is just as stunning and extremely comfortable with large rooms, high ceilings and an interesting collection of contemporary paintings. When restoring the five hundred year old structures, the owners maintained the vaulted ceilings, the old beams as the terracotta floors but also added a modern touch so there is a wonderful collage of textures and colours creating a luxurious home but with a touch of subtle understatement. Something very hard to come by, but at Geggianello, achieved in full. Of course there is a fantastic kitchen, and breakfast is prepared and included in the rental and the resident cook who lives in gate house can arrange for you fantastic meals and served in a wonderful candle lit setting, under the loggia facing Siena.
