Podere Santa Giulia
This beautiful stone farmhouse was built around 400 years ago on the foundations of Etruscan ruins on a hillside above what was a very important Etruscan road in southern Tuscany. Today it’s a sophisticated home with a beautiful terraced garden, a private pool and two guest houses. No expense was spared in the restoration and conversion by its Italian owners who transformed it from a ruin into a warm and very welcoming home with all the modern comforts of today. It’s set between two very beautiful towns, between Cetona and Sarteano, both offering fantastic restaurants as markets with Montepulciano which is nearby. Siena is also within easy reach, as Florence but you can also venture into Umbria as Orvieto is only a 40 minute drive so its location for those that want to explore southern Tuscany. What is strikingly beautiful about this property is the garden and its many shaded areas. Outside the kitchen there is a shaded dining area with a barbecue, outside the living room are two shaded seating areas and on the main lawn a second shaded dining area under a pergola with wonderful views. Beautiful stone walls define the many lawned terraces that lead up the private swimming pool set at the top of the hill. The owners being lovers of food have a very well equipped kitchen that also has a large dining table and has everything one could ever dream of needing to create even the most sophisticated of Italian dishes. Podere Santa Giulia is a very sophisticated home but also offers a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. A fantastic balancing act that is hard to come by when renting a home anywhere in the world.
