The little hamlet of Rendola barely deserves its name, scattered as it is among the lovely rolling hills for which Tuscany is famous. At the very top of one of these hills sits Tenuta Il Poggio (appropriately, the 'House on the Hill'), a tall and charmingly asymmetrical stone farmhouse believed to date from the 18th century. Although many traditional features remain, notably the stone fireplaces and high, wood-beamed ceilings, the interior has been reconfigured to offer very large, interconnecting living areas on the ground floor of the main house and bright, spacious air-conditioned bedrooms throughout. Fantastic outside living space, with a large loggia and a dining table and a modern designer sitting room under a large canvas awning with wide steps leading down to the private swimming pool capturing wonderful views of the glorious landscape between Florence and Arezzo on the edge of the chianti.
