Colle di Compito, just 15km/9miles south-east of Lucca, boasts a variety of little shops with breathtaking views of Castelvecchio di Compito Alto and the surrounding Tuscan mountains. The weekly markets of Colle di Compito, 10 minutes' walk and Capannori, 15 minutes' drive are every Saturday morning. Also, a choice of small grocery shops and restaurants within walking distance and a supermarket at just 5 minutes' drive. Excursions nearby range from the mountains of Pisa to the art cities such as Lucca 15km/9 miles, Pisa 29km/18 miles, Firenze 79km/49 miles and San Gimignano 64km/40 miles. The coastline is within easy reach by car, about 45 minutes arr the thermal spas and the popular seaside village of Forte Dei Marmi 50Km/31 mil.

The mosquitoes day and night are nobody's fault, but for a next stay we would appreciate insect screens on the windows and doors and better wifi.
