Villa Clara (sleeps 16)
Make Orvieto the backdrop of your next multigeneration getaway at Villa Clara. Following a sensitive renovation, the villa’s design-led interiors incorporate local craftsmanship, like Tuscan terracotta tiling, without compromising on its historic grandeur.
Today, Villa Clara stands proud amidst the rolling hills of Umbria, just 7km from the medieval town of Orvieto. The layout unfolds over multiple levels, with expansive ensuite bedrooms and living spaces designed for intimate gatherings. Older teenagers are able to stay in the guesthouse, which is spread over three floors.
Multiple dining spaces, both indoors and out, accommodate up to 16 guests in style – even the grand hallway can be transformed into an elegant banqueting room for atmospheric, long-table feasts. Each window and terrace frames dramatic views of Orvieto and its golden cathedral — a privileged backdrop to every gathering.
Villa Albizi (sleeps 16)
Nestled in a private hamlet in the rolling hills of Chianti, this 16th-century luxury villa calls for group activities and plenty of wellness – with a spot of world-class wine.
Every detail is taken care of with Villa Albizi’s dedicated on-site concierge team, who are on hand to book private wine-tasting tours, intimate cooking classes with the villa’s own chef, Tommaso Mori, and relaxing wellness afternoons in the villa’s spa. Be it morning yoga or an afternoon swim, every experience can be booked through the villa’s exclusive app.
Inside, two light-filled living rooms invite the whole group to come together and relax. For a fun distraction, the ground-floor billiards room will strike up some friendly competition.
With Chianti on your doorstep, Gaiole in Chianti (15km), Radda in Chianti (23km) and Castellina in Chianti(34km) are all reachable by car.
Villa Sigurtá (sleeps 24)
Just south of Lake Garda, this stately villa has hosted a long list of emperors and kings — from Napoleon III and Franz Joseph, who once made it their headquarters, to royals like King Charles. Despite its regal reputation, the owner Count Jose Antonio Sigurtà, makes guests feel entirely at home.
The main house is surrounded by three fully air-conditioned guesthouses, allowing the grandparents some added privacy, while older teenagers have plenty of space to relax and unwind independently. As for the little ones, there’s plenty of outdoor space to let them roam free and explore the gardens.
An outdoor rear terrace overlooks the gardens, with a spacious living and seating area accommodating up to 24 guests. Inside the main villa, grand corridors lead to a plethora of sumptuous social spaces.
Salone degli Ambasciatori, the central family room of the ground floor, is furnished with designer velvet sofas, perfect for unwinding over relaxed conversation. Retreat here for a warming glass of red wine or pre-dinner cocktail served by your butler. Come dinner, Salone della Caccia can host up to 24 guests for a family-style banquet, surrounded by vivid frescoes of the family’s hunting dogs.
Set within the celebrated Sigurtà Gardens, and with the Parco sul Mincio closeby, the surrounding location is perfect for group adventures. The beautiful town of Valeggio sul Minico is within walking distance, where you’ll find an assortment of restaurants, bars and bakeries. Just 500 metres from the villa, Borghetto sul Mincio enchants with its picturesque streets, historic watermills and charming waterside eateries.
Podere Celli (sleeps 26)
Located amidst the vine-laden hills of western Chianti, this beautifully restored stone farmhouse is big enough to cater to a huge extended family. The main villa can accommodate up to 16 guests, with a further 10 in the guesthouse.
Start your family gathering in the open-plan living room, which boasts two large, open brick fireplaces and a separate dining area. The vast courtyard is the crown jewel of the villa. Gather each morning on the paved terrace for breakfast. Come evening, feast on homemade Tuscan dishes, like stuffed courgette flowers, prepared by your private chef. Guests who opt for the fully staffed option will also be treated to an immersive cooking class.
In between group activities and family outings, the sheer size of the private swimming pool is hard to resist. After a day of group activities, unwind in the villa’s sauna for a truly restorative retreat.
Florence and Siena, brimming with world-class art, history, and culinary delights, are both less than an hour’s drive from the villa. San Gimignano, often dubbed the “Medieval Manhattan,” is only a 30-minute drive away. Go for the art galleries and fun-filled bike tours, and stay for the gelato! Speak to our Concierge to organise a guided walk to San Gimignano along the Via Francigena – an ancient, pilgrim route that once stretched from Canterbury to Rome.
